In the Month of May, AR will be highlighting the accomplishments of our 4th year students. Today's 4th Year Spotlight students are Genevieve Hamaker and Zoe Guarnieri!
Genevieve was accepted to several schools including St. Catherine University, Cal Poly Humboldt, San Jose State University, Sarah Lawrence College, Bryn Mawr College, UC Davis, and the University of Vermont, but plans to attend UC Berkeley this coming fall!
Zoe has earned her Seal of Biliteracy and was selected as a student speaker at this year's ceremony! She plans to attend College of the Redwoods in the fall!

Today was the District C2 Lions Club MD4 Speakers Contest in Windsor, CA. AR 4th Year Matthew Coyle was among five students who gave polished speeches on the topic "For A Better World, What Would You Change?" These young people all focused on kindness, grace, and decency. Matthew earned over $1000 in scholarships over four speech competitions, and we are so proud of his hard work and accomplishments! Ms. Holtski's Biology class visited the Arcata Marsh today and learned about wastewater treatment and the ecological history and ongoing restoration of the Humboldt Bay shoreline! Mr. Stephens called on Mr. Freeman, Principal King, 3rd Year Rowan Estlin and 4th Year Tessa Hogue to help judge coffee roasted, ground, and brewed by the AR Chemistry class. Tonight, Sophia Glass was honored at the 53rd annual Fortuna Rotary Club Scholarship Dinner! Sophia was awarded a $1,500 scholarship which she will use to fund her studies this next year. Congratulations, Sophia!

The Academy of the Redwoods are the 2024 Coast League Champions!!! Defeating Zoe Barnum 30-23 in the Championship, this is AR's first ever 1st Place Trophy! Led by Coach Lynsey Molina, the seniors on this team have been devoted leaders since the beginning. This was a special team, and with a ton of talent returning next year, the future is bright for AR basketball!
